In a recent legal development, Silvia Olivo (age 50) has officially filed for the dissolution of her marriage to Marcos Olivo (age 45) in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. The filing, made on August 28, 2023, has brought to light several key points in their case.

Both Silvia and Marcos reside in the Village of Franklin Park, Cook County, Illinois, establishing the court’s personal jurisdiction over both parties. They were lawfully married on January 20, 2001, and lived together as husband and wife until January 1, 2020.

The crux of Silvia’s petition centers on irreconcilable differences that have led to an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage, with all attempts at reconciliation having failed. They share two children,  aged 17 and 15, and Silvia seeks joint allocation of parental responsibilities with Marcos in their best interests.

Illinois is considered the Home State of the minor children under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, and Silvia is not aware of any other custody litigation involving the children in any other state.

Both Silvia and Marcos have respective incomes, with Silvia earning approximately $100,000 annually as a Senior Loan Operations Analyst and Marcos earning around $53,000 annually as a Class A Machine Operator. The petition also emphasizes the equitable distribution of child support, uncovered expenses, and non-marital property.

Additionally, the petition requests that both parties be barred from seeking maintenance and spousal support from each other, and they should bear their own attorney’s fees. The marital property, including their home in Franklin Park, will be equitably allocated between the two.

The filing reveals the complexities of their marital situation and sets the stage for what promises to be a significant legal proceeding in Cook County, with important decisions affecting the couple’s future and their children’s welfare hanging in the balance.
