our purpose

For time immemorial, marriage was a sacred, private, family affair, overseen by religious authorities.

Our federal courts somewhat enshrine this concept through the “domestic relations exception” to federal diversity jurisdiction. That is, because traditional English courts of chancery and law left issues of domestic relations to “ecclesiastical” courts, federal courts are loathe to hear such cases, leaving us to state courts.

Some federal courts are even worse, extending their failure to hear issues between families even when the issue is clearly a federal question. Our founder identified this circuit split, and was even ‘kinda-sanctioned’ for it after winning redress in the 7th Circuit.

That aside, society has deemed marriage a matter of public import and a public matter. We grant licenses, privileges, tax benefits, and the like. We define it, we redefine it, and shift society through it.

But most of all, we make it the most egregious source of public acrimony.

VowBreakers brings to light the public issue of marriage through the only public source of data. The indecency of it has not to do with the sore subject, the damage to children, but that it is a matter of public record at all. Thus, VowBreakers appears when a marriage falls apart only for the purpose to better educate the public about what modern-marriage is. We have the power to change that – that ultimately is the media’s job, to highlight the need for such changes.

And if anyone asks us (which they won’t before hurling insults), private marriage and dispute resolution has to be better than submitting ourselves to childless judges ruling on parental issues. Let the judges divide property if we must – ‘that’s where the money is.’

Over the course of time, VowBreakers has no doubt it will introduce readers to providers of sweet alternatives to a sour system.

COVERAGE

VowBreakers will cover divorces and divorce courts through public filings.  We strongly suggest parties resolve their differences prior to publicizing them. Our Founder speaks from experience.
