In Jackson County’s Family Court, petitioner Theresa M. Garrison, through her attorney R. Scott Richart of Albano Richart Welch & Bajackson, LLC, filed for the dissolution of her 33-year marriage to Raymond G. Garrison on October 28, 2024. Citing an “irretrievable breakdown,” Theresa states that there is no chance of reconciliation and asks for a just and equitable division of marital assets and debts. Married on October 11, 1991, the couple separated in January 2021. Both have non-marital assets which Theresa requests to be divided accordingly.

The petition includes requests for periodic maintenance, suggesting that Theresa lacks sufficient income to meet her reasonable needs. She requests that maintenance payments be assigned directly from Raymond’s employer to her. Additionally, Theresa seeks the restoration of her maiden name, Theresa M. McCurry, and asks that Raymond cover her attorney fees and court costs unless mutually agreed upon otherwise. She acknowledges that mediation and alternative dispute resolution were options provided by the court. As she moves forward with this dissolution, Theresa petitions the court for a fair judgment under Missouri’s family laws.
